How do I request GIS data for Redwood County?
Please contact Redwood County’s GIS Specialist at the Environmental Office.
Do I need to replace/inspect my septic system in order to sell/buy property?
No, many other counties require this, but Redwood does not. However, some lenders require an inspection and failure of inspection will require repair or replacement of the septic.
Do I need a permit to replace windows and doors, or do interior remodeling?
Not from the county, but if your property is within 2 miles of the city of Redwood Falls, or in Paxton Township you may need a permit from the city or township.
If I add on to my house, will I need to get a new septic system?
Only if (1) you are adding a bedroom, or a room that could be considered a potential bedroom according to the septic code AND your septic system was installed prior to January 3rd, 1996; OR (2) if your property is located in the Shoreland District (1000 feet from the shore of a lake or 300 feet from the bank of a river or creek); then you will need to have the septic inspected. If the septic fails inspection, it must be repaired or replaced.
Do I need a permit to tear down a building?
No, but you will need a permit from MPCA to bury, or haul to demolition landfill.
What is the minimum size lot if I am going to sell my farm building site?
In the Ag zone – 2.5 acres. In the Shoreland District – 5 acres (excluding areas below the Ordinary High Water Level of the waterbody). All parcels under 10 acres in area must be surveyed. Also, the Auditor’s Office will require the taxes for the whole property to be paid in full for the year.
How do I apply for a position with Redwood County?
All applicants MUST complete a Redwood County Application. To apply for a position you must apply on-line by going to the Redwood County website at: co.redwood.mn.us and click on the Employment Opportunities tab or by going to https://mn-redwoodcounty.civicplushrms.com/careers/ to apply. Detailed information about the position can also be found on the Redwood County Career Portal site.
Complete your application on-line and at the bottom of the application there is a save progress button and submit application button. If you are ready to submit your application simply click on the submit application button. If you are not ready you can save your progress but clicking the save progress button and finish later or until you are ready to submit.
Can I complete a paper application?
No – All applicants MUST complete their application on-line.
What if I don’t have internet access or a computer?
The Career Portal site may also be accessed from a smart phone or tablet if one is available. If you do not have internet access you could go someplace that has free WiFi such as a local library and use a public computer there. You can also come to the Redwood County Government Center and use the computer in the lobby area.
Am I able to get notifications when a position opens?
Yes – Go to the Redwood County Career Portal located at https://mn-redwoodcounty.civicplushrms.com/careers/ At the top left corner there is a Job Alert Window with a button that says Notify Me. Click the button and every time a new position is posted you will receive a notification. If you haven’t already registered for an account you will be asked to register at this time.
How am I notified about the status of my application?
Once you submit your application you will receive an email within a couple of days that your application has been received and is being reviewed.
If you are chosen for an interview you will receive an email to contact the Redwood County Administrators Office to set up a date and time for your interview.
If you are not chosen for an interview will receive an email stating that you were not chosen to interview.
How do I find out if I get hired for a position?
Once you have been interviewed for a position if you are chosen for the position you will receive a phone call to see if you accept the position.
If you are not chosen you will receive an email stating that you were not chosen and the position was offered to someone else.
If I’m a Veteran do I get Veteran’s Preference Points?
Yes – But only if you requested to apply for the points on the application. You will be asked to answer Veteran’s Preference questions during the application process. If you request the Veteran’s Preference points you will be required to complete a form during your interview to validate that you do qualify for Veteran’s Preference points. The form will become a part of your application and will be kept with your application. When you are filling out your application, you will be asked to answer questions pertaining to the request of Veteran’s Preference that MUST be completed AND submitted with your application in order to receive Veteran Preference Points. If the box is not checked stating you are an eligible veteran, Veteran’s Preference points will not be given.
